AND THOSE WHO CLAIM THEY ARE SAVED BY FAITH
THE FRAUD OF ANANIAS AND SAFFIRA ACTS CHAPTER 5: 1 TO 11
background story of these couple who were struck dead by the HOLY SPIRIT
THE Sanhedrin was making life difficult for the christian Jews in Jerusalem
Judea and Samaria.
The Christians helped out each other and some even sold their properties
to help those who were really struck hard by this persecution.
Ananias and Saffira sold their property though it was not obligatory for
them.
Ananias put aside some of the proceeds for himself and conived with his wife Saffira to report a lesser amount and the rest he turned
over to the Apostles.
In other words they lied to Peter who at that time was filled with the Holy Spirit .
And Peter said Act 5:4 "YOU HAVE DECEIVED NOT MEN BUT GOD"
Both Ananias and Saffira were struck dead by the HOLY SPIRIT AND THEY WERE
BURIED THAT SAME DAY.
THE COUPLE NEVER LOST THEIR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.
THEY WERE A PERSONAL WITNESS TO JESUS CHRIST - PERHAPS TO SOME OF HIS.
TEACHINGS AND PERHAPS HAVE SEEN SOME OF HIS MIRACLES.
PERHAPS THEY HAVE SEEN THE ACTUAL CRUCIFIXION OF JESUS CHRIST.
THEY WERE TAUGHT BY THE APOSTLES THEMSELVES.
BUT THEY WERE STRUCK DEAD BY THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR THEY CHOSE TO LIE
THIS SIMPLE STORY AFFIRMS WHAT PAUL SAYS-
THERE IS NO ASSURANCE - WE MUST PERSEVERE TO THE VERY END
WE MUST WORK OUT OUR FAITH IN FEAR AND TREMBLING
ANINIAS AND SAFFIRA NEVER LOST THEIR FAITH- THEY SINNED AND CHOSE TO LIE
NOW WHAT SAY YOU - TO THOSE WHO PREACH THAT BY FAITH WE ARE SAVED!
TO THOSE WHO PREACH THAT JESUS SAVED US ON THE CROSS-
TO THOSE WHO SAY THAT THERE IS NO HELL
JUDAS WAS A CLEAR EXAMPLE - WHO WAS CONDEMNED TO HELL
IN THE LAST SUPPER - JESUS TOLD JUDAS TO BE GONE AND DO WHAT HE MUST
AND IMMEDIATELY SATAN ENTERED HIS SOUL.
